Eric Athey & The Newfield Five Biography

Eric Athey, a Lancaster-based singer-songwriter, got his start in the local music scene as the front man of The Red Roosters – a gritty rock n’ roll combo that served as the first house band at the legendary Chameleon Club.  Since then, Athey has recorded four records (available on most streaming services) that cover some of the less-travelled paths of Americana. His fifth record will have been recorded during the week prior to his appearance at this year’s Roots & Blues Fest. He will be backed by The Newfield Five, his studio band, comprised of former members of Son Volt, the Mark Lanegan Band, Whiskeytown, the Johnny Dowd Band and Supermoan.  Their set will be a “pre-release” party for Athey’s upcoming record and covers the gamut from hard-driving roots rock to blue-eyed soul.
