Blues, New Orleans Jazz, Funk, Soul

You haven’t met Matthew Jordon yet, but you will notice him by the tilt of his smile, the cut of his jib, and the song in his step. He’s a raconteur with a talent for tickling the ivory keys, and he wants to move you with the elite and sweet syncopations of yesteryear’s house parties– in the right’cheer and now!

Matt’s Blues is an owner-operated shindig of low-down, mud-funky, N’awlinz-fueled piano-pounding with that extra touch of lounge snobbery. Based in Fairmont, WV, Matt plays a strawberry-painted piano that he brings along in his minivan. His listeners range from hotel lobbyists to Sunday worshippers to bar drinkers to unsuspecting pedestrians. 10 out of 10 passersby agree, “we never seen nothin’ like it!”

With a passion and respect for the musical heritage of New Orleans, Matt does his thing while paying deep tribute to groundbreakers like Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Professor Longhair, the Neville Brothers, James Booker, Tuts Washington, Richard Tee, Paul Simon, and Jerry Lee Lewis. Originally self-taught, he is now a student of pianist and arranger Tom Roberts of Pittsburgh, PA. With his child-like eyes, all-teeth-inclusive grin, and unrivaled enthusiasm for the piano, it’s blues you can use. Matt’s Blues, that is.
